Children of Moab Church Collect 1,000 Cans of Food for Area Needy More than 1000 cans of food were collected by Moab young people over the Halloween Hal-loween weekend to be used for the needy of this area. Children of the Seventh-day Seventh-day Adventist Church throughout throu-ghout the United States perform per-form a public and commun ity service at Halloween time. Instead of threatening residents res-idents with tricks they request re-quest food, clothing or cash. They then use those items for persons and families suffering suffer-ing from unfortunate circumstances circum-stances such as accident, disease di-sease or disaster. This weekend children of the local church collected 1,109 canned and boxed foods. They also gathered 242 pieces piec-es of, clothing and more thar: $70 'in cash. Elder of the local Seventh-day Seventh-day Adventist Church, Dr. J. P.Munsey said the outstanding out-standing collection was due to the generosity of the Moab Mo-ab public for which they deserve de-serve a good deal of credi. The items collected will be used in the weeks ahead for those ' in need. Dr. Munsey said that if Moab residents are aware of neighbors or families ' in the local area that need help, they should call Mrs. Alberta Rowe, director dir-ector of the Welfare Department Depart-ment of the Church. The number to flail is 253-5964. This service is open to persons per-sons of .any nationality or creed. Church members will also be preparing Thanksgiving baskets in a few weeks to brighten the holidays of fam-iliesin fam-iliesin need locally.
