At noon Saturdav the annual Horseshoe Pitching Tournament Tourna-ment was held at the City Park, and emerging victorious was Walt Spring. La Sal. with the champion's trophy, with Syl Domenick receiving the 2nd place trophy. At 5 p.m. Saturday, n re-eii.u tiiu iit of Hutch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid's robbery of the Winnemucca. Nov., bank took place at First Security Hank. The event, many hours in the preparation, took about IS minutes and provided education and entertainment enter-tainment to the delighted crowd attending. Butch Cassidy was portrayed por-trayed by Rand Taylor, KURA Radio; while the Kid was Ron Carlisle, Calleria Hair Fashions. Fa-shions. Butch's girl friend. Ftta Place was portrayed by Chris Pritchett. and the getaway buckboard, provided through Steve Brownell and First Western National Bank, was driven by Essie White. Dixie Barker, KURA Radio, did the narration, which was written by Rand Taylor. This rodeo, unhampered with the bad weather that took its toll attendance gate last year, was one of the best Swanny Kerby has every produced for Moab, with a really professional bunch of participants thrilling the big crowds. I I r i The Sait Lake City Palomino Posse appeared in the Canyonlands Rodeo Parade Friday, showing off their riding skills with some fancy stepping down Main Street. Large number of entries provided a long and varied parade as western heritage was observed in Moab. - 1 ! "i ..... j -' : ' "'" -- I 1 Arrested as special guests in honor of Butch Cassidy Days and the Canyonlands Rodeo was a Delray Beach, Florida, family. Sheriff W.H. Bowman took the carload into custody and brought them back to Moab for a weekend of sentence serving. As part of their sentence, they were ordered to attend the rodeo and issued free tickets.
