Show Size of Gas Rate Hike Undetermined Local Utah Gas Service Manager Lou Smith said Tuesday that he had not yet been advised of what the newly authorized rate hike would mean to local consumers consum-ers of natural gas. The Englewood, Colo., based bas-ed company headquarters had not received a copy of the Utah Public Service Commission order granting the increase, he explained. And until they do, local company officials won't know any more than anyone else how much gas bills will be going up. It was reported Tuesday that Utah Gas Service had been granted a total increase of $161,833 to meet increased costs of pipeline gas. The company's supplier. Northwest North-west Energy Co., had previously prev-iously been allowed to increase its rates to reflect higher costs of Canadian gas. and the Utah Gas Service petition was granted as a "pass-throughV-increase for the company t. ; maintain its ability to provid" service. .
