Show BPW Club Members Hear Talk on Education Fort Moab wns the pi nee May 13, at 7:30 for Business and Professional Womens Club meeting and smorgasbord. smorgas-bord. Presiding President Mary Wilson presented Grand County Coun-ty High School graduates, Kathy Dawn Wilson and Garth DeLong as honored guests of the Club. They were given gifts by Ann Pool in behalf of members. Other guests, Miss Lynn Norton, Lonnie Travis, Richard Wilson, Lyn Pipkin and guest speaker .leston Rlewitt introduced themselves. Mr. Blewitt chose as his subject: "Foresight in the Field of Education". He mentioned that our young peo-' pie were greatly in need of discipline, understanding and directive leadership from their parents. He also stressed stress-ed great need for love and sincere interest in the curriculum cur-riculum of students, a need to know what they are dom in educational fields, by whom they are being taught and a need of the parent to participate partici-pate more in local school affairs. af-fairs. To be assured that teachers of highest moral levels lev-els as well as abilities are the instructors of their children It is his opinion that teachers wield more direct influence on the lives of students they tench than is given credit or thought. Outgoing President Mary Wilson expressed her thanlu to the members for her year and extended wishes of success suc-cess to new officers. Sue Austin, as installing officer of-ficer of Violet Southard-President, Frankye Sparks 1st Vice President, Ann Pool --2nd --2nd Vice President, Frances Warren Secretary, Nellie Beyeler Pro Tern for Dolores Bordeaux treasurer. After installation, Mrs. Southard afepted the presi dents pin from Mrs. Wilson who in turn accepted the Past Presidents pin. She then inducted two nw members, Mrs. Frances Warren, War-ren, and Mrs. Lily Blewitt, who is leaving the area soon was given a gift from the club wifj best wishes jn her B.P.W. journey. Mrs. Southard named her comittee members for the en-sueing en-sueing year as: Frankye Sparks Program Chairman Nellie McAtlin Personal Development, Lula DeLong World Affairs. The discussion of having the Dairy Princess at a guest was approved and plans for the attendance of State Convention Con-vention June 7, 8, 9, at Beaver, Bea-ver, Utah was delegated. |
