Show Dear Sam: I am enclosing a copy o? Faul Harvey's news commentary commen-tary of December 8, 19fi7 which was broadcast over the AR,C radio network following his visit to Brigham Young University, to address an American Week Spectacular. I would like to see these comments com-ments rebroadcast and reprinted re-printed as far and wide afc possible. You see so much of the news these days (not so much in your newspaper) a-bout a-bout the "hippies" the sit-ins, sit-ins, the civil unrest at some of our Universities that I am afraid we are getting the impression im-pression that our college youth are involved in some sort of a revolution to abolisli propriety and morality. Yesterday, I enjoyed watch ing the ''Bowl Games" over television and to note that the pre-game activities included the raising of the flag and playing of "The Star Spangled Spangl-ed Banner" and in some cases the opening of the game with a prayer. The spirit of these top-rated schools and the impressions that were made during the half-time activities displaying the attitudes of the cheering sections toward school spirit and their allegiance to their country, needs to be given equal time with the exhibitions exhibi-tions of the "crazy-mixed up world' in our news and radio. If you agree, I would be pleased to have Mr. Harvey's commentary published in your News Paper so that o-thers o-thers may be refreshed as I have been by hearing of Mr. Harvey's experience. Very truly yours, David L. Bailey Editor's Note: We regret that the length leng-th of Mr. Harvey's comments, com-ments, do not allow reproduction re-production here. Copies of the radio broadcast are available by writing Radio Ra-dio Station KALL in Salt Lake City. Copies of Mr. Harvey's speech to the Student body of Brigham Young University are a-vailable a-vailable by writing to the Publications Sales Department De-partment Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. |
