Show worthwhile endeavor, if . . . Creiilion recently of a cooprrative organization known as "Utah Agencies," to plead Utah's case in improving airline schedules in the State appears. to hive considerable merit. Tho organization is made up of representatives rf .several State agencies, tho Attorney General's of-fire, of-fire, ann private aprencies including the Salt Lake Area Chamfoi r of Commerce. The involvement of the latter organization to the team in not without merit, although we are convinced convinc-ed they believe Salt Lake City is Utah and will endeavor en-deavor to place their emphasis on increasing business busi-ness at the Salt' Lake Municipal Airport. The Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce has for years been involved in-volved in the promotion of aviation for that metropolitan metro-politan area and have been almost alone in their efforts. Their experience should be invaluable to the new cooperative agency if they can develop enough' sportsmanship to extend the scope of their activities beyond (he Wasatch Front. Moab's efforts toward promoting air travel here have likewise been active and successful The construction con-struction of Canyonlands Field, bringing with it better bet-ter schedules and higher boarding figures, speaks well of our interest in aviation. There have been times in; the past, however, when assistance in improving air service here would have been welcome for the State of Utab and that assistance has been non-existant. It was only natural, then, that most of our airline-orin'nted airline-orin'nted connections have been with the Colorado cities of Grand Junction and Denver, t ' We applaud the formation of Utah Agencies. It is high time Utah began a unified effort to improve our isolated situation by increasing air ties with the slates around us. But we would remind this organization organiza-tion that the boundaries of the state extend for sever! sev-er! hundred miles in many directions from, Salt Lake Valley, and their efforts should be aimed at improving improv-ing air service here as well as at the big airport in Salt Lake City |
