Show Petromics Co. Doubles Size Of U-Ore Mill Proof of the rising demand de-mand for uranium was shown this week in announcement an-nouncement by Petromics Co. that it had signed a contract to double the capacity ca-pacity of its Shirley Basin, Bas-in, Wyoming ore processing proces-sing mill. Two 200 ton capacity trucks have left for Shirley Shir-ley Basin, scene of new uranium mining interest, near Casper. Ken Coats, mill manager, said that the trucks were part of six huge haulers worth more than $1 million that would be used to feed the uranium processing mill. The facility was expected to double its capacity later lat-er this year. Coats announced that a contract in excess of $1.5 million, had been signed with Stearns-Roger Const. Co. of Denver, to enlarge the milling facility. Work is to begin within two weeks. 40 to 50 people will be employed in construction, construc-tion, and 165 to 175 persons per-sons would be employed on the mill payroll by the end of the year. Petromics is owned jointly joint-ly by Tidewater Uranium and Kerr-McGee. |
