Show Involved in Special Course LOGAN William A. Ruggeri, 654 Mi Vida Drive Moab, is one of 38 high school students from across the nation selected to participate in a Mathematics Math-ematics Summer Science Training Program for High Ability High School Students, at Utah State University, July 6 to August Aug-ust 15. Purpose of the program is to augment and broaden the training in science for capable students, many of whom don't have the opportunity op-portunity for development in these areas in their high schools because of a limited curriculum, said Dr. Lawrence O. Cannon, USU assistant professor of mathematics and director of the program. The mathematics program pro-gram is being supported by a $13,025 grant from the National Science Foundation. Founda-tion. The 38 students will receive re-ceive individual and class mathematics instruction from the staff of the USU Mathematics Department and will also study independently inde-pendently in order to pro-gress pro-gress as rapidly as they can. The students were nominated nom-inated from their respective respect-ive high schools and selected sel-ected on the basis of their, aptitude, grades, mathe-matic mathe-matic creativity and interest, inter-est, said Dr. Cannon. |
