Show Monbites Extend a Hearty Welcome To New York's Se nntor Kennedy Blue fkics and a large crowd of Moabites greeted greet-ed Senator Robert F. Kennedy Ken-nedy on his early morning morn-ing touchdown at Canyon lands airport Thursday. The Senator was an hour late for a planned full day of sightseeing and boating in the Canyon country, and he didn't stay long. But he took time out to shake hands extended over the airport runway -fence, and to sign autographs auto-graphs as he walked down the line of people. He was accompanied by Utah Senator Frank E. Moss, a frequent Moab visitor, who courteously stepped aside. It was obvious ob-vious the crowd at the air-po". air-po". t had come to see Bobby Bob-by Kennedy. What they saw was a man of surprisingly slight stature, with a shock of unruly bronze colored h::r and matching complexion. He hid a weathered out-dcorsman out-dcorsman look, and contrasting con-trasting white teeth th.'t flashed in the sunlight with his easy smile. The New York Senator, a possible future presi-dental presi-dental aspirant, was in casual attire. He wore no coat, a light blue shirt with the sleeves turned up, red tie and black slacks. He answered the Moabites words of welcome in a quiot cultured voice with a Boston-tinged accent. ac-cent. "I'm glad we could stop," he said to the delegation dele-gation who had come early and waited the hour out to see him. And the handshake he gave Ihem was so firm it wa.s felt long after the visiting Senator boarded his whir-lvbird whir-lvbird for an aerial look at the red rock scenery that had lured him to the remote Canyonlands.
