Show Assist from Moab Civic Club Helps Sfydetif Attain Hosiers Miss Vondcll Lander, daughter of Mir. and Mrs. (Vopel H. Lander, began classes at the LDS Business Bus-iness College last . week, after passing entrance examinations ex-aminations with outstanding outstand-ing marks. Her grades drew comment com-ment from school officials, for Miss Lander has been blind since childhood. Vondell's mother served as her eyes throughout her school years. She attended Utah public schools, pri-. vate schools in California, and graduated two years ago from the Raton, N. M. high school. ,- Further education without with-out the assistance of her mother posed a problem, until the Moab Lions Club heard of her plight and presented her with a tape recorder. Through use of the device her lessons can be taped; some additional tutoring service may be available to her when need ed, through State appropriated appro-priated funds. Miss Lander plans a career-as an IBM Computer 'Programmer. In a well- written legible letter to the Moab Lions Club this week she expresses appreciation appre-ciation for the tape recorder re-corder which will make the .career possible for her. "I would like to take this opportunity op-portunity to personally thank each member of the Moab Lions Club for their assistance," she wrote. |
