B. Can tl and, president of th tate board of land com ml Ml oners, will auction off 'nearly SOAf acre of land under th Plut project to tb highest bidden. Tba land will carry with It water rights, under tha Pluta project on wblch tha state baa already spent sr-eral sr-eral thousand dollars. While no definite Information has Wen given. It Is expected that the Jewish Agricultural and Colonial association of Philadelphia will have one or more representatives rep-resentatives present to bid on the greater part of the land. Should Iti bid be accepted It Is tba Intention of tha association to place about 6A families on the land early next spring;. In the event that this association secures what land It want a It Is planned to send a number of men of various trades onto the land this fall so that they may prepare pre-pare for the coming; of tha others best spring;. On April SS last ftamueJ Newhoua received re-ceived a letter from an of the leading members of the association, announcing that It wished to purchase land sufficient suf-ficient for about SoO families. Ths letter let-ter wae turned over to th Utah Development De-velopment league and the work of securing secur-ing data and other Information was taken up at once, and has been con tlnued until the present time. In May Secretary Cains learned that representatives of the association were visiting New Mexico with a view of securing se-curing a tract of land. He at one got tn communication with them and isdured them to coma to Utah before closing any deal. Since then representatives have visited various parts of the stats and have practically decided to locate their colony on the Plut project, providing the light terms can . be secured. It Is said that the first 600 families will be but tha commencement of a large colony which wlU coma west. Those behind the project say that within tha next four or five years they expect to settle at least 1000 families In th new colony. For this reason they will ask for an option op-tion on mora land than will be wanted at first. , On August the state will bold land auction at Pa rowan.
