Show STREET CAR HEN AWAIT ANSWER Request for Increase in Wages Goes Over Until Tomo.Tow Afternoon ; a Big Meeting Tonight Important developments in tie local street car situation are expected tomorrow to-morrow afternoon, when a committee representing the men will hold a conference con-ference witn General Manager Joseph S. Wells of the company. Members of the executive committee of the union met with Mr. Wells yesterday afternoon. after-noon. They were not, however, received re-ceived as representatives of the union, but as representatives of the employees. em-ployees. The men again presented their request for an increase in wages, and it was finally decided that the matter should go over until tomorrow afternoon. after-noon. . The street car men are not without hope that their request will be grapted and insist that they do not want a strike. International Representative C. O. Pratt, who has charge of the matter in connection with . the executive committee com-mittee of the union, still believes there will be a peaceful settlement. A meeting of the day and split shift men and or the barn men will be held at 8 o'clock tonight. It is expected that not less than 300 men will be present. pres-ent. So far, Mr. Pratt has not consulted con-sulted with the officers of the road, leaving that matter entirely in the hands of the executive board, with whom he is in consultation the greater part of the day. . -- |
