Rockefeller, who Thursday made an official of-ficial announcement, ssyinjj that Rocke feller's fortune could not exceed $250,-000,000 $250,-000,000 or $300,000,000, and that, his income did not exceed $15,000,000 or $20,000,000, added to his statement yesterday, yes-terday, in an interview, that Rockefeller Rockefel-ler does not controlvthe Standard Oil company now, nor has he ever controlled con-trolled it. At no time, said Gates, have Mr. Rockefeller's holdings of Standard Oil stock been as much as 30 per cent of the total. The statement was brought out by a reporter who visited Gates at his home in Montclair, N. yester- "Mr. Rockefeller has never been in ontrol of the stock of the Standard Oil company," Gates said in reply to a question on thst point. "The stockholders stock-holders control, ana always have con-'trolled, con-'trolled, the company." "Have there not been times when Mr. Rockefeller held more than 20 per cent of the stock!"
