Show ACCEPTED BRIBE; IS OUSTED FROM SENATE DENVER, Feb. 7. Senator Richard W. Morgan of Boulder county, a Republican, Re-publican, was expelled from the State Senate resterdav bj a vote of 29 to 1. His expufaion was recommended by a majority of a special committee or the Senate which found .him guilty of having accepted a bribe. Thia finding was baaed on the statement state-ment made to the Senate in March, 1905. by Morgan himself, who handed to the Secretary of the 8enat $750 which, he declared, had been given him by James M. Herbert and Daniel Sullivan Sul-livan in consideration of his promise to vote for Alva Adams, Democrat, for Governor in the Peabody-Adams contest. con-test. When the vote on the contest waa taken Morgan voted for Peabodv. Morgan failed to appear before the investigating in-vestigating committee when summoned and was not in the Senate today when hia expulsion waa decided upon. |
