Show MAIL CARRIERS IN BUTTE TO STRIKE BUTTE, Feb. 21. Postmaster-General Cortelyou has informed the local postal authorities that the raise in pay asked by carriers cannot be gran ted.' The estimate indicating that Butte is not a city of the second class does not constitute con-stitute an official census. This means that the letter carriers will walk out March 1. A bill passed by the House yesterday afternoon providing for certain cer-tain increase in pay for postal employees em-ployees may affect a few postal clerks here- HELENA, Mont., Feb. 21. Members of the Retail Merchants' association submitted a propositfrm- to the striking telephone operators last night that if they would return to work, pending a settlement, the association would pledge its active support looking toward a settlement, set-tlement, and if it was not settled by Tuesday, then the girls should go out again. The girls rejected the proposition. |
