The brilliants bril-liants are set In a silver mounting; on blue enamel, which the Jewelrs say Is a lost art. The jewels which Miss O Nell wears , in "The Sorceress" are magnificent. Some were received by her from the niece of Mme. RistorL the great Italian artiste, and consist of bracelets, earrings. Jeweled orders and other accessories to regal splendor. They are declared to be the most magnificent and costly ever displayed dis-played on the stage. Misa O'Neil will appear ap-pear here soon. Miss Isabel Irving, the charming American Ameri-can comedienne, who Is to be at the Salt Lake Theater beginning tonight, In "Susan "Su-san In Search of a Husband," was for years a member of the famous Augustln Daly company, an organization which haa done much for the American stage. While she obtained the greater part of her stage experience with that company, she has had some extremely Interesting engagements engage-ments In her life, chief among which was her position as leading woman at the Lyceum Ly-ceum theater In New York, the place which furnished nearly all the prominent men stars of the present day their first opportunity to achieve fame. Miss Irving waa also for two years leading woman for John Drew, and followed Maude Adams In that position when Miss Adams left to take up her first starring tour in "The Little Minister." In the life that lies outside out-side the theater Miss Irving Is the wife of William H. Thompson, one of the finest character actors In this country. ( The bill at the Orpheum next week, as announced by the management, will comprise com-prise the following acts: Ned Nye and Six Rollicking Girls, a vaudeville fantasy; Richard Buhler A Co., presenting "The Cracksman": Warren & Blanchard, the comedian and the singer; Cavalier A. L. Guille, celebrated French tenor, formerly with Adelina Pattl; John A. West, the musical brownie; Maxwell & Dudley in a singing comedietta, "For Sweet Charity." and the kinodrome. Since Monday night standing room only has been the order this week. A real, old-fashioned comedy melodrama, melo-drama, brimful of charming character delineations, de-lineations, is promised for tonight at the Grand, when U. D. Newell presents his beautiful romantic play of New England life, "A Jolly American Tramp." This play Is said to be the best ever written by that veteran author. E. E. Kidder, who Is responsible for Sol Smith Russell's great successes, "A Poor Relation" and "Peaceful Valley." In "A Jolly American Ameri-can Tramp" Kidder essays to 'tell the story of one of nature's noblemen, who, through stress of circumstances, was compelled to become an outcast, but who kept his manhood and honesty while living liv-ing as a "hobo." The play also present, several other 'studies in character equally as clever and clear-cut as that of the tramp, and each with a distinct purpose In view. Wit, scintillating with comedy of a high- order, and pathos happily blending with laughter-provoking scenes, are said to be among the quaint conceits that will appeal to the heart strings as well as the risibilities of Its beholders. The cast Is one of the best obtainable, and the scenic environment and mechanical effects are said to be magnificent. A real dramatic treat is promised when its presentation takes place. A special holiday matinee will be given Washington's birthday. |
