Show UTAH COUNTY LEADSSAFETY Nine Deathless Days Recorded Utah county, which In 1939 had the worst traffic fatality record of any government unit in the state 23 deaths Wednesday was showing show-ing the wsy to the rest of the state's metropolitan area In fatal accident prevention. With two deaths up to January 10 In 1939, Utah county has not hsd a traffic fatality this yesr snd already al-ready has hung up a mark of nine consecutive deathless days. The deathless days periods, popularized pop-ularized by The Telegram as a measure of safety efforts, gives Utah county the advantage over the other three units in the area Salt Lake City, Salt Lake county coun-ty outside the city and Davis countycompared coun-tycompared with 1939 deathless day records. Utah's best effort wss 38 days last year, between May 17 and June 2S. lowest number of any of the four units. But thit year it Is much closer to equaling its 1939 efforts than are the other units. Davis county, with 84 deathless days between October 8, 1939, and January 1, 1940, is in next best position, now hsving seven consecutive con-secutive days without traffic death. Salt Lake county now has three deathless days. It was tops among the four units lsst year, with 85 consecutive deathless dsys between January 4 and March 31. Salt Lake City has a hard row to hoe. With Tuesdsy's fatality, Its deathless dsy count stood at zero Wednesday and it will have to exceed 67 to beat Its 1939 mark, set between Februsry 2 and April 11. |
