Show UTAH EDUCATORS PLAN SI. MEET "Challenge of Our Changing Times" will be the them at the Utah Education association annual convention In Salt Lake City October Octo-ber 21, 22 and 23, when the association associa-tion will be host to several noted educators, B. A. Fowler, executive secretary, said Saturday. There will be several general sessions ses-sions In the L. D. S. tabernacle and approximately 27 departmental meetings. Approximately 5000 teachers from every school district In the state will attend. Dr. J. R. Mahoney, U. E. A. president, will conduct all general sessions. Nobel Winner to Speak Chief among the visiting speakers will be Dr. Robert A. MiUikan, Internationa! In-ternationa! authority tn physics and applied science, and a Nobel prise winner from the California Institute Insti-tute of Technology. Dr. W. H. Burton, professor of education at the University of Southern California, also has been secured. He will speak at a general meeting on "Changing Education in a Changing Society." Another speaker will b Robert Hill Lane, assistant superintendent of Los Angeles city schools. He win discuss the workable philosophy of education. The subject of his address at a general meeting will be "The No-Failure Program in Our Elementary Schools." Georgian en List Dr. Paul W. Chapman, dean of the school of vocations and guidance guid-ance at the University of Georgia, is another guest speaker. Mr. Fowler said the convention will deal with the problem of how ' to make the schools fill the needs of youth and how best the teachers can find a place In the social life of today. Arrangements already are being made to have an elaborate program of music. - ' |
