Show Divorce Dcra Ends Ce!sbratedBurk Cass The troubled marital affairs of Martha B. Burk and her husbsnd, Frank L. Burk, appeared to be settled Thursday when Mrs. Burk waa granted divorce by District Judge Roger 1. McDonough. Judge Mc-Donough Mc-Donough delayed aigning tha decree, however, until court coat and filing fee are paid. Mra. Burk filed suit for divorce on grounds of cruelty and nonsupport on November 29, 1932, charging her husband called her vile names and nagged her. Mr. Burk filed an answer denying the charges and citing that be had worked steadily for many yeara, turning hia wagea over to hia wife, until September 29, 1932, at which time he Joined the ranks of tha unemployed. un-employed. He petitioned the court to force his wife to allow him to live in the family residence and partake of the family board. The Burks' affaire gained nationwide nation-wide attention when District Judge Jsmea W. McKlnney granted the petition peti-tion and ordered Mrs. Burk to contribute con-tribute to the support of her husband. hus-band. With the divorce decree granted Thursdsy, Mr. Burk signed stipulation stipula-tion waiving right to contest tha suit and agreeing to a property aettle-ment aettle-ment allowing Mrs. Burk title to the family property at S37 Simpson avenue. |
