Show 19,000 Volumes Given to University of Pennsylvania More than 10.000 volumes, comprising compris-ing whst is believed to be the largest single gift of books ever received by the University of Pennsylvania library, libra-ry, have been presented by Dr. Chsrles W. Burr, secording to Thomas S. Gates, univeraity president, says a United Press dispatch. All the books were chosen from his own library by Dr. Burr, who is a distinguished physician, an associate asso-ciate member of the univeraity trustees' trus-tees' board of graduate education and research, professor of neuropsychiatry neuropsychi-atry In the graduate school of medicine medi-cine at the university end emeritus professor of mental diseasee. The gift, which brings the number ef volumes in the university's library to approximately 70,000, was made without any restrictions. Dr. Burr's only request being that the books be cataloged and made available for use as rapidly as possible. Books considered most worthwhfle in nearly all c lease of literature history, his-tory, travel, biography, poetry, drama and standard fiction comprise the bulk of Dr. Burr's gift, but it also Includes a number of smsll collections, collec-tions, emong which la a noteworthy assortment of books on spiritualism and witchcraft |
