Show UTAH TO JOIN IN PORTLAND EXPOSITION Gov. Wells has appointed a committee, commit-tee, composed of Ho yt Sherman, Judge L. B. Shurtliff of Ogden and IL, B. Clawson. to arrange for Utah's representation repre-sentation at the Lewis and Clarke Centennial Cen-tennial Exposition, to be held at Portland, Port-land, Or., in 1905. These commissioner have recommended to the Legislature! an appropriation of $10,000 for the pun-pose pun-pose of providing an exhibit at the exposition ex-position of the resources of Utah. C. H. Mclsaac, secretary of the Manufacturers Man-ufacturers association of the Northwest, North-west, and special commissioner of the exposition, is in Salt Lake, and is confident con-fident of the success of the exposition. He reports that the exposition grounds will cover 385 acres, sloping toward and touching the Willamette river at a rJoint where Lewis and Clarke landed on April 3, 1806. Within the grounds Is a natural lake. The exposition Is designed to cover the original territory known as Oregon, and comprises Oregon, Washington, Idaho, parts of Montana and Wyoming and a section of Utah; hence Utah has a common Interest with the consolidated Northwest in the success of the exposition |
