Show PAYNE CASE CONTINUED Accused Doctor Will Know His Fate on ' - Wednesday. The preliminary hearing of Dr. E. S, Payne, who is charged with murder in the second degree, was continued until Wednesday, January 21st, by Judge . Diehl yesterday. The continuance, which was required by the defense to give City Chemist Harms an opportunity to make a chemical analysis of some pills found In Miss Hill's room, was a disappointment disappoint-ment to Judge Diehl, who expected to dose the case yesterday. The session which convened yesterday afternoon was almost devoid of interest. Mrs. George N. McKay, wife of Prof. McKay of the -Lowell school, at whose i home Miss Hill lived, testified that she ' did hot find certain articles of clothing ln Miss Hill's room. Attorney WanleBS was clearly disappointed, as he had hopedvto strengthen his client's case by showing the condition of the clothing.
