Both branches- of the Legislature transacted a small amount of business yesterday in addition tohallotlng for a United States Senator. Senator Willis "Johnson, Introduced Senate bill No. 15 which is intended to Increase the salaries of State Supreme Justices romi$3000 to $3000 per year. The bill is in line with suggestions made by Gov. Wells In Lis message. Senator Johnson also introduced Senate Sen-ate Joint resolution No. 2, providing for the appropriation tof $50,000 for the purpose pur-pose of having the .industry of natural resources of Utah creditably represented repre-sented at the Louisiana Purchase exposition ex-position to be held in St Louis in 1904. It also provided for the appointment of three commissioners by the Governor to carry out the purposes of the resolution. resolu-tion. Under the rules of the Senate the resolution went to the table for one day. The concurrent resolution providing for a messenger for the Governor, was reported favorably by the Committee on Engrossed and Enrolled Bills. The resolution was thereuopn signed by President Allison and transmitted to the House for the Speaker's signature. |
