The weather was very cold, so he pulled his head back again and began to take another an-other little nap. Then Mrs. Turtle began be-gan to beat him on the shell, and Mr. Turtle knew there was no use to resist. So he put his head out and walked around for a few minutes to warm up, and heard Mrs. Turtle say: "Dnn't vmi tnnv tYiat . - - iu B to the animal show? Why don't ' you hurry up?" "I'm" hurrying, my dear." said Mr. Turtlev as he busied himself getting breakfast. But Mrs. Turtle kept nagging nag-ging at her husband. "Don't you know," said she, "that the animal show takes place three weeks from today, and it's more than a mile from here, and we ought to start right away?" , So Mr. Turtle kept quiet fnd soon had breakfast ready. They partook of some food, and in a few minutes were chatting chat-ting gaily together. Finally they cleaned up and Mr. and Mrs. Turtle started on their long mile-walk. Tou know, children, that turtles can't walk very fast, because they have to carry their houses with them. How fast do you think you could walk If you had to carry your whole house with-you? But they were a persistent couple, and they trudged manfully through the woods, at least Mr. Turtle trudged manfully, man-fully, while Mrs. Turtle trudged almost as fast. |
