Show EXPLORERS PREPARED TO CLIMB MT. M'KINLEY. SEATTLE, Wash.. June 9. Frederick A. Cook, a scientist of New York; Robert A. Dunn, a young geologist of Harvard, and Ralph Shalnwald, a young botanist graduate of Columbia, forming the Cook expedition en route to Alaska, to make an ascent to the summit of Mt. McKln-ley, McKln-ley, the highest peak on the American continent, arrived in Seattle. The party has secured fifteen packbornes, which will be taken to Cook's Inlet tomorrow. Included in the 1250 pounds of food supplies sup-plies will be special preparations for use while on the ascent. The equipment consists con-sists of Alpine axes, glacial ropes, alcohol and petroleum stoves, a silk tent, weighing less than three pounds, capable of accommodating accom-modating the party; sleeping bags which may be used as overcoats, cameras, etc Should the summit be reached, as every confidence is expressed by each of the party, the atmospheric conditions will be first observed. |
