Show Dr. Conwell Should Cos? to Utah. ' . The Rev. Dr. Russell H. Cottwell of the Baptist Temple, Philadelphia, entertains ideas that would make him a very popular man In Utah. lir. Con-well Con-well strenuously pleads for larger families. lie has placed himself in line with President Roosevelt on race suicide. Recently he spoke pertinently about the bringing up aud training of children. He said: "Home is home when a child comes to it, and not before. When a child arrives the responsibilities which accompany it are of first moment to the father and mother, who truly love that child. The Lord commanded men to be fruitful and multiply in order to replenish and subdue the earth. Families should be larger than they are and children should be so reared as to subdue the earth In the true, sense of the word. In this generation children are growing up with no respect for their superiors in age. The old-fashioned and true idea of teaching respect for elders made noble men and women. Every pulpit in the world should emphasize the importance of teaching every child to respect those who know more of this world than th6 child himself. ' Respect for, the Bible and religion should be taught also-far also-far more than they are in the present day." Especially Espe-cially would Dr. Conwell's belief-in the. gospel admonition ad-monition to men "to be fruitful and multiply" be heartily indorsed by certain Utahns. ' The Quaker City is not the place for Dr. Conwell. He should come to Utah. ...... |
