The legislative committee, which is Investigating Republican Re-publican campaign contributions, resumed re-sumed Its hearings today. Among the witnesses . summoned for . today were Brewer Busch and Btifel. . Adolphus Busch and Otto Stlfel told to the committee the same story a that told last night by Mr. Nledring-haiis. Nledring-haiis. They 'said, as he had done, that their contribution was a guarantee to meet a deficit, and entailed no promise of favors for their business Interests. After they had finished Mr. Nled-rtnghaus Nled-rtnghaus appeared before the committee commit-tee and asked to be permitted to make a voluntary statement. He said R. C. Kerens, after the election, offered to pay one-third of the committee deficit. Before Be-fore the election, he said, CoL Kerens and W. BLJTbompson had expressed a readiness t9 stand their share of the expenses. ex-penses. Mr. Nledrlnghaus said he made this statement in Justice to Mr. Kerens and his friends. . Mr. Nledrlnghaus appeared before the Senate committee today. His direct testimony was on the whole the same as he gave before the House committee last night. QuesUoned about the 32500 which he admitted was given by Mr. Busch before be-fore the meeting at the Busch residence, at which arrangements for a guarantee fund were 'made, he said that It waa not originally given as a guarantee, but was afterward applied on the guarantee guar-antee fund.
