Show ANOTHER BANQUET FOR DR. BROWNE Dr. J. Lewi. Browne of Atlanta, Ga., who la to give an organ recital at the Tabernacle next Monday night, marking the conclusion of the session of AH Hallows Hal-lows college, was again the guest of honor hon-or at a banquet given at the Alta club last evening by the Very Rev. John J. Guinan, president of All Hallows. The guests included Gov. and Mrs. Wells, Miss Emma Ramsey, the Rev. M. J. Murphy, Profs. Anton Pedersen. Thomas RadcllfTe, John J. McClellan, Kenneth C. Kerr. Murray Mur-ray Schick, John E. Hansen. Charles C. Wentzler and Clint B. Leigh. The Rev. Father Murphy presided as toastmaster and added much to the pleasure of the evening by his eloquence. Gov. Wells spoke briefly, expressing his pleasure at the presence of the distinguished distin-guished artist and speaking in high terms of All Hallows college, 1 and its accomplished accom-plished president. He predicted a great future for the institution and wished it all success. Dr. Browne spoke with glowing enthusiasm enthu-siasm of his reception in Salt Lake, paid a graceful compliment to its artists and spoke feelingly of his good friend. Father Guinan. He announced that for his recital reci-tal Monday night he had arranged a composition com-position which would be presented for the first time, in which Miss Ramsey, Prof. Pedersen, Prof. McClellan, Arthur Pedersen. Peder-sen. Alfred Best and himself would participate. par-ticipate. After the banquet Dr. Browne and several sev-eral of the party went to the Tabernacle and for an hour Dr. Browne delighted his hearers with his wonderful work on the great organ. Those who had not heard him before were swept by enthusiasm, and those who had heard him were only more pleased at his mastery of the marvelous mar-velous Instrument. |
