Show i . .-.'..TELCOtlED TO UTAH OGDEN, Oct T. When Benator Fairbanks Fair-banks arrived at Ogden he waa given one of the most rousing- greetings ever accorded ac-corded a Vice-Presidential nominee. The Fairbanks train vm met at Elko, Nev., 300 miles west of here, bjr Senator Sraoot and a party of Utah Republican, who accompanied him here. When he arrived at the station Benator Fairbanks was met by Senator Kearns and was closeted with him for some time. No statement was given out regarding- the Interview, but it was announced that no reference to the political situation In Utah wtll be made In any public utterance. Senator Fairbanks wired Senator Kearns" from Carson City, asking him to meet him. The telegram follows: CARSOX, NevJ Oct. 5. 1901. THOMAS KEARNS, Salt Lake, Utah: Will reach Ogden Thursday evening-. Glad to have you Join me and accompany me through State. CHARLES W. FAIRBANKS. .There Is every probability that the Invitation Invi-tation will be accepted and that Senator Kearns will become a member of the party through the State and a part of the trip in Wyoming. The special train entered Utah via the Lucin cut-off screws Salt Lake and the ride across the lake made a delightful break" in the monotony of the trip. Following- an Informal. reception in Senator Sen-ator Fairbanks' car the entire party entered en-tered carriages and were driven through the principal streets of Ogden. They then went to the Reed hotel, where many local politicians met the distinguished visitor. - A banquet was tendered Benator Fairbanks Fair-banks at the hotel at 7 o'clock. Mayor Glasmann presided. There was no speech making; and the affair waa entirely Informal. |
