THE BOARD OF COCNTT COMMI3-sloners COMMI3-sloners of the County of Salt Lake, ordains or-dains as follows: Section) 1. That that highway in Salt Lake county heretofore known as South Main Street Boulevard, and extending from the southern limits of Salt Lake City along the Salt Lake meridian Una a distance ef one and one-eighth miies, more or less, to Highway No. 3 (commonly (com-monly known as TweKth South street) le hereby declared to be a public highway one hundred and thirty-two feet in width, designated and apportioned as follows: Said street, outside of a Hne fifty feet from the center thereof. Is classed as sidewalk, side-walk, the theoretical eurs line to be at said fifty-foot line; that eight feet oat-side oat-side of said curb line and adjacent thereto, there-to, on each side of said etreet, with twelve and one-half feet Inside of aald curb line and adjacent thereto, en each side of said , street except where the same la intersected inter-sected by streets crossing eaat and west. Is hereby dedicated and designated as a public park under the control and direction direc-tion of the Board ef County Commissioners Commission-ers of Salt Lake eousty ; that the outside eight feet of said sidewalk Is hereby designated desig-nated to be used for sidewalk purposes, and any pavement placed theroa shall be In the center thereof, and shall be not less than five feet nor more than eight feet wide; that the actual curb line upon said highway shall be thirty-seven and one-half one-half feet from the center thereof on either side, and shall mark the roadway-stde boundary of said parked grounds, and a space one and one-half feet, wide on the aide of said actual curb line next to the center of the street is hereby designs ted a pole space for hitching posts, mail box posts, and such electric light or telephone poles as the Board of County Commissioners Commis-sioners may direct to be placed upon said street but no railway right of way snail be permitted along said highway; that the cross-section grade adopted for the roadway road-way part ef six-rod highways Is hereby adapted for the roadway portion of said highway, with the modification of two and one-half, feet stricken off from each side of said cross-section. Sec. 2. That the name of aald -South Main Street Boulevard as herein described Is hereby changed to and designated as Roosevelt Park, in honor of the present President of the United States. Sec. 3. That It shall be unlawful for vehicles ve-hicles to enter upon any part of aald highway high-way outside of a line thirty-six feet on each side of the center thereof, except on intersecting roadways, and In crossing Ur snd from the property of abutting property prop-erty owners upon properly constructed roadways; and it shall be unlawful to place any post pole, tree, fence, building, or other obstruction, upon said highway except as herein Indicated. Any person violating any of the provisions of this section sec-tion shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. misde-meanor. Sec 4. That that part of said highway to be used by vehlces Is hereby set apart for the use of light vehicles only, snd all heavy teams or loaded tesms are hereby prohibited from using or passing over the same, except in cases where It isi necessary neces-sary for them to procure Ingress or egress from and to property abutting on said highway. Sec. i. The purpose of this ordinance Is to apportion said highway as follows: Eight feet on either side thereof for exclusive ex-clusive use as a sidewalk: twenty and one-half one-half feet within the sidewalks, on either side, for a pubiio park; seventy-five feet In the center thereof for a drive for light vehicles, with one and one-half feet on either side of this roadwsy for hltobing posts, poles for carrying light etc; and convenient eroes-seetlons for Intersecting streets and for roadwsys into private property abutting on the highway. Sec. 7. That any person or persons who shall ride or use any bicycle or tricycle, or who shall drive or cauae to be driven any heavy team or loaded team upon or over said highway, except aa provided In cases of necessity mentioned in section 4 of this ordinance, and excepting the riding of bicycles bi-cycles and tricycles as provided In section 6 of this ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof shall be fined in s sum not less than 31 and not more than 323 for each and every offense. . , Sec. a, That the Board of County Commissioners Com-missioners Is hereby authorised to offer as a prize or reward for a plan or plans for -parking the portion of said highway set apart for a public park, a sum not to exceed $100, said plans or designs-to be made to conform to the use of Intersecting highways and of the property of abutting owners. Sec. 9. That when said plan or plans shall be adopted the Board of County Commissioners may direct the placing of posts trees or other monuments to indicate indi-cate the divisions of this highway and to protect the different sections thereof from encroachment and obstruction or Injury, snd may adopt through committee or otherwise, regulations for the control of the same, not Inconsistent with law. . Sec 10. That the system of numbering along said Roosevelt park shall be in harmony har-mony with the system of numbering that may be adopted along parallel roads in said county. Sec. 11. An ordinance "setting apart certain streets as and for a boulevard." passed by the Board of County Commissioners Commis-sioners July 13. 14, and sn ordinance "Amending an ordinance prohibiting the riding of bicycles and driving of loaded teams over the South Main street boule vard," passed by the Board of County Commissioners May 20, 19u0, are hereby repealed. . , Sec 12.
