Show HISS NANNIE TOUT BANG AT THE ! . Tabernacle Thursday night before a ' . large .and. thoroughly delighted audi- J ence. The Utah singer was In excel-'' excel-'' lent voice and. her selections were in the main well chosen. The " number I i that pleased 'most, however, was "The Old Kentucky Home." All the melting pathes of the ballad was. brought out by the beautiful voice of Miss Tout. , Hrr first selection was one of Verdi's we:t compositions, "Blttomo Vtn-cltor" Vtn-cltor" from "Aida." The liquid Italian words lent themselves well to the notes of the singer. In 'Weber's aria from "Oberon," "Ocean. Thou Mighty ' , '.Monster," she 'was even more pleasing pleas-ing and the applause that greeted her must have been flattering even to one so accustomed to being applauded. Her final number was Rossini's florid "Jn-flsmmatus," "Jn-flsmmatus," a brilliant composition but one sadly lacking in real melody. - It taxed- her voice severely and Is a selection she would do well to avoid. Miss Tout deserves all that has been said of her. Her voice Is strong and ! flexible, capable of rendering the most Intricate operatic compositions, , yet soft and sympathetic enough to add charm to the simple ballads. If she has a weakness It la In the lower register. reg-ister. Some of the low notes sounded throat? and lacked the timber of those of the middle and upper registers. The . surprise of the evening, however, was :' the singing of Wlllard Andelin; the v young Provo basso. His voice is of . i course uncultivated, but It has surpria-. surpria-. ing power and richness. The deeper he went the more resonancy and pow- er there was to his tones and he artlc-. artlc-. (.' ulated clearly. He was compelled to 1 answer two encores after singing ' "Down Deep In the Cellar." ' For one : of them he gave "Rocked in the Cradle of the Deep " and the audience became ' ' wildly enthusiastic. That young man will be heard of. He has a voice that ' Is bound to win him fame. The play-; play-; i big of Christensen's selected orchestra and the singing of the Tabernacle choir were greatly enjoyed. Herman ' Bchettler rendered a violin solo and E. v F. Tout sang. e e FLORENCE ROBERTS .WILL PLA1 "Marts of - the Lowlands" at the Salt Lake Theater Friday night and Saturday Satur-day matinee. Her engagement closes Saturday night with Teas of the v i .
