Show BRAKEMAN WILL BE A CRIPPLE FOR LIFE RENO, Nev., Oct. 7. H. R. Bowman, a Southern Pacific brakeman, fell from the top of a westbound freight at the east switch of the Sparks yards last night at 7:45 o'clock and sustained Injuries which will make him a cripple for life. His right foot was caught under the wheels and was mangled in a terrible manner, md the toes of his left foot were crushed so badly that they will have to be amputated. am-putated. He was Walking; across the train when he slipped and fell, and other members of the crew did not know of the sccident until after they hsd pulled Into the station of Sparks and he failed to report Conductor Costello and Brakemsn Ew-Ing Ew-Ing then went down the track looking for him and found him crawling up the middle of the track on his hands and knees.- They picked htm up and carried him to the Sparks depot, where he was put on the switch engine and brought Into Renoi He was met at Reno by Drs. Thoma and Morrison and his wounds were dressed. Later he was put on No. 3 and sent to the San Francisco hospital. hospi-tal. . |
