Opening prices of stocks today showed some recovery from; yesterday's closing weakness, but the' gains were small and the volume of business was insignificant. Brooklyn Rapid Transit moved up a point. - The advance. ' however, was soon lost, on a resumption of yesterday's selling of Pennsylvania and a few unimportant stocks. - - The pressure on Pennsylvania' was -a dragr -on the market, and prices were held down. A number of young women living in and about Dunkirk, Ind.. will shortly hold a meeting for the purpoee of organising or-ganising a leap year proposal club. The organization is expected to be on the order of a eecret fraternity. The object is to send proposals to the young men who happen to be favored by the club members individually. These proposals will be In the form of dainty epistles. Club meetings will be held twice a month, and the replies to the written proposals will be read aloud. To the young man, however, who smiles approval on the young woman who offers blm her heart and hand there will come a double benefit. From the dues paid into the club will be established a marriage benefit. Applications Ap-plications for membership from the county or adjoining counties will be considered.
