Smith, one of the most prominent capitalists cap-italists of this city, this evening sacrificed h Young Smith was standing on the lower deck of the steamer, when suddenly the little girl fell from the upper deck into the water. Smith plunged in after her. The deckhands of the steamer lowered a boat in the meantime and went to the rescue, res-cue, but when the boat had nearly reached him Smith let go of the child and suddenly sankT Tha little girt was saved, but Saith did not com to the surface again. |
