Glidden left Chicago on .Monday for the Pacific coast to continue the trip. At least eighteen more coun- tries will be explored by the motor car , ' enthusiast before he finishes the ltiner- j ' ary he has planned, and many wild and j - half-clvillzed places will be traversed by the wheels of the big touring car be- fore the United States is again reached. ' Mr. Glidden Is accompanied by Mrs. ; Glidden, who exceeds her husband in motor enthusiasm. If possible, and who is a clevt-r . aauffeur aa welL , , First to Cross Arctio Circle. Mr. Glidden it was who had the honor 'of being the first person to steer a car across the Arctic circle. This trip was made In August, 1903. His present par- , i ty has Just finished the trip of S536 .. miles from Boston to Vancouver, over , 1803 miles being traveled on the ttracks ; of the .Soo and Canadian Pacific rail- '; roads. For this Journey the car Was fitted with curved rteel wheels to fit the ' rails and the motor car was run on regular train eervlce'schedules. ' The trip across the continent was fln-- fln-- ished only a few weeks ago. Mr. Glld-. Glld-. ' den with his party Is now on his way to start on the trip across the Pacific and , will probably come by way of Salt Lake. His first point to be touched will be the Fiji islands, and the party will sail December De-cember 8 for that port. Flans to Touch Every Country.
