Show ' HOME. NO GOOD CAN COME OF THEIR BEING BE-ING ON THE STREETS AT NIGHT. AND MOTHERS THAT ALLOW TnEM TO BE OUT ARE AS CULrABLIT IN. ONE SENSE AS THE MOTHER OF THE POOR GIRL WHO HAD TO END IT ALL WITH A DOSE OF POISON. Mothtrs and Daughters. The pitiful story of the death of a bright railroad man and the suicide of the girl with whom he was infatuated has been told in the press. There is no need of going into the details again. The story is old, but it is repeated so many times. He had a wife and a son, but he met his Delilah tnd she robbed him of his strength. He had a large Income and the girl liked luxury. It will never be Inown which one tempted the other. That matters little, however. The girl had a mother. She knew what was going go-ing on. So did the girl's stepfather. He secured a divorce, because his wife, THE GIRL'S OWN MOTHER, ENCOURAGED HER TO KEEP UP THE LIAISON WITH THE RAILROAD MAN. The man is dead. Many think he committed sui- ' tide. All know the girl took her own life. They j have gone, bone knows where and it rests with a j . higher power to judge them. AH we can do is to forgive and to hope the wretched tragedy will serve ac a warning to others. THE MOST HORRIBLE PART OF THE WHOLE AFFAIR IS THE ATTITUDE OF THE . MOTHER. That she could know of the relations between her daughter and a married man was bad enough, but to know and to give consent and encouragement encour-agement was unspeakable. THE MOTHER SHOULD PROTECT AND GUARD VTHE DAUGHTER. Undoubtedly most mothers do so or think they do. In reality many of them are as insensible to their duty as the mother of the poor girl who is in a grave of shame. THEY ALLOW THEIR DAUGHTERS TO BE ON THE STREETS AT NIGHT WITH BOYS. WALK ALONG MAIN STREET OR SECOND BOUTH ANY NIGHT AND YOU WILL SEE THEM BY THE SCORE. They have short dresses. ' They are hardly into their teens. They have no idea of the risk they are running. Mothers often delude themselves into the belief that ignorance is inno-'cence. inno-'cence. It is not. When knowledge comes to the girl, her innocence may have gonek forever.
