Show Sustains thejoard 1 Commercial Club Votes in , j Favor of the Council's 1 j Water Plan, By a. vote of 33 to 10 the Commercial club voted Tuesday to sustain the action of the board of governors in favoring the City Council's plan for increasing ' the water supply of Salt Lake. The opposition was taken by' John E. .Dooly, jf JTT J. Is, Thomas Homer, Ho-mer, J. w. Houston, w. J. Halloran, S. B. Tuttle.-T. R. Black and A. J. Davis. These men put up a hard fight against . . the scheme, but their arguments were , Vi not sustained. 1 In his talk Mr. Dooly said that he fa-xr fa-xr vored getting water from Bear lake, by buying - the water rights, and when asked who the water rights were to be . bought from, replied that he had once - filed on them. . The meeting was held in the Commercial Commer-cial club rooms and lasted several hours. Every phase of the 1ond Issue and water rights was discussed and Ashby Snow, representing the farmers . and water users, said that he believed that a number of the objectionable features fea-tures of the contracts to be made could . be eliminated. |
