April 13.-penlng price changes in the stock market were very much mixed and were generally restricted to within one-half either way. Prices, did not ease off very much before a large demand de-mand sprang tn which lifted the entire list above yesterday's dose. Steady buying buy-ing of Pennsylvania. BaJUmore & Ohio. St. Paul. Union Pacific and Sugar in largo blocks had a beneficial effect on trading operations. North American and Pacific Mail each gained a point, and General Electric rose 2. Dealings were on a large rale all around and the improvements were well maintained, up to 11 o'clock. Northern Securities on the curb was a fraction below last night's close. - The buying movement was continued in the second hour, lifting a number of prominent railroad and industrials a point or more over last night. Northwestern gained 2, Reading first preferred 2, Dei-aware Dei-aware & Hudson l and a number of the Gould stock. Baltimore ft Ohio, Sugar, Amalgamated Copper, Tennessee Coal, Metropolitan Street Railway and soma less prominent stock 1 to 1&. In the inactive in-active list Fort Worth ft Denver City scored a decline of 16. Prices receded slightly when the buying demand had been exhausted and trading became dull. Bonds were dull. Western stocks and some of the coalers were pushed up resolutely again, but there was not much of a following in the general gen-eral market, which was quieter and hung back. Union Pacific and Baltimore A Ohio were marked above 88 and Atchison and Rock Island also advanced strongly. Realizing sales forced the leaders down a trifle at 1, o'clock and dealings became very dull. s St.i Paul met lance selllncr orders when It touched 181 and yielded a little of its advance. ad-vance. Stoel stocks sagged a good fraction, frac-tion, but there was no aggressive selling at any point. The market hardened later to about the fop. St. Louis Southwestern preferred advanced 2'A. while Chicago Great Western A lost 14 points. When the shorts desisted from their covering cov-ering operations the market became very dull and prices drifted downwards. There were advances of 3 in Lake Erie ft Western; West-ern; ITi in Metropolitan Street railway and a point over In Norfolk ft Western. Evansville A Terre Haute and United States Rubber preferred. A single sale cf Westlnghouse Electric preferred made a decline of 27 points from the preceding sale, Manhattan, sold off rapidly when it became known that the demands of the employees had 'been refused. The stock lost 2 and the local tractions reacted in sympathy. The selling movement became be-came general and gains in many cases were wined out.
