LAKE CITY : Deaths in Salt Lake City during the past week occurred mostly among persons per-sons over 20 years of age, of which class there were sixteen deaths; according to sex, the .decedents were sixteen males ; and eight females, twenty of the total number being residents of the city. The deaths from. all causes for the week were the same as for the same week of last year and flv less than for th preceding pre-ceding week. Fatalities among cases of diphtheria have been greater than for the two months At this year than for the same period of 1902. while deaths from scarlet fever have decreased from 9 per cent to 3 per cent. The births reported for the week, of which fourteen were males and eighteen females, show an Increase of six as compared com-pared with last week and five compared with the same week of 1902. Fifteen cases of scarlet fever remained re-mained over from last week and three . new cases developed during the week covered by this report; five cases were released from quarantine,- leav-v leav-v Irg thirteen cases In detention as against fifteen for the preceding week and forty-six for the corresponding week of last year. At the close of last report there were twenty cases of diphtheria diph-theria in quarantine j during the week twelve new cases were reported, three died and six having been released, left fourteen cases in quarantine. Eighty-six Eighty-six cases of smallpox were detained over from last week; during the week sixteen cases were reported, representing represent-ing a decrease of seven as compared with, last week, and thirty-eight cases were discharged, leaving sixty-four cases in quarantine. Two cases of measles and one case of chicken-pox were the only other cases reported.
