Show UTAH'S WOOL CUP THIS YEAR BROUGHT $1,300,000 Utah wool for this season brought $1,300,000 to the wool-growers of the State. A conservative estimate of the total amount of wool moved this year by the - freight departments of the two roads over which all the wool going out of the State Is shipped places the total clip at 10.000,000 pounds. , The prices this season were a trifle lower than last year. In different parts of the State clips sold between 12 and 14 cents. An experienced wool-buyer who have been buying here this" season says . that the entire clip would average a selling price of 13 cents. The greater part of shearing Is done. There remain a few ewes to be sheared as soon as lambing Is over, but aside from these the flocks have all passed i through the shearers' hands. , As near as can be ascertained at this time there has been a shrinkage of k from 20 to 25 per cent in the weight of this season's clip due to a heavy death rate during the winter and also the fact that the fleece was considerably shorter and lighter than usual. The wool situation In Idaho and Wyoming is about the same as In Utah. The losses in both States have been heavy and the fleeces light. It appears, however, that the wool-growers will fare better than they expected to earlier In the season. |
