Show MAYOR WEAVER MAY QUIT JOB QuaKer City Executive Reported Re-ported to Be Weary of His Office Because of Many AttacKs. PHILADELPHIA, Pa., Oct, 1. Made desperate by the attacks that have been made upon him personally and upon his administration, report now declares that Mayor Weaver ia seriously se-riously contemplating resigning bit office of-fice and retiring to private life. When tbe Mayor reached the city hall it was to find that the report of his intended in-tended retirement had preceded him, and that gossip was busy with this latest morsel, and that the political wiseacres had even set the date of his retirement. Rumor had it that he said to some of bis friends that he would resign within with-in the. next three weeks, and when he appeared he- was asked: - "Is it true, Mr. Mayor, that you have determined to resign and mean to retire re-tire within three weeks!" The Mayor smiled and then said: "You HI have to guess again." "Will it be within six weeks t" "Guess again," repeated the Mayor. "Do you intend to retire at any time in the near future t" "I have no intentions of that kind at present," was the reply. "Then you intend to serve out your termt" "I have already said all that I intend in-tend to," responded tbe Mayor. Mr. Weaver was tben asked whether he had received the resignation of Superintendent Superin-tendent Taylor, and replied that he had not. "I have not requested any resignation, resigna-tion, have not received any and do not expect to receive any," was the wsy he expressed himself. |
