Show POPE BETTER AND RECEIVES PILGRIMS ROME, Oct. 25. Dr. Lapponi this morning said that the Pope's condition had improved. The swelling of his foot had almost disappeared, the pains had ceased and his temperature was normal. He was therefore allowed to receive the British pilgrimage, but instead of the audience occurring in the hall of the congistory, as prearranged, and which would have made it necessary for the pontiff to walk, it was held in the throne room. The Pope was carried to the throne and the pilgrims filed before him and kissed his hand. Although the pontiff was languid and pale, his general con-1 con-1 dition seemed satisfactory. |
