Show PASSES CALLED IN BY THE RAILROADS All the railroads having offices In Omaha, Oma-ha, according to a dispatch? from that city, have Issued orders that all passes of whatever kind will be called In and canceled after August 28. All holders of passes, annual and otherwise, other-wise, will at once be sent notices that their passes will not be good after that date, and that no trip passes will be Issued Is-sued to anyone after that date. It was popularly supposed that the pass provision ot the rate bill would not go Into effect until next January, but the legal departments of the roai having offices there have come to the conclusion that it will not be sfe for the companies com-panies to keep any passes effective after August 28. - It Is not known what is to be done about mileage given to newspapers In exchange for advertising. The passenger passen-ger departments of some of the Western roads believe that under the law as it will be construed by the Government they will be permitted to enter into advertising adver-tising contracts with newspapers by which this custom may be continued. |
