The game will be between a picked nine of Salt Lake's finest and the peace officers of the Junction vilage. "We will play tho game, rain or shine," is the edict that has gone forth. There has never been any question as to the result of the game. As for the expenses, they are assured by private advice ad-vice that has reached this city from the northern village. It Is stated that every man, woman and child In Ogden would be willing to pay 25 cents to see a real live policeman. They will have the opportunity op-portunity next Thursday. In view of the victory with the Ogden bunch next Thnrsdnv the boys are being besieged with challenges from alleged, or would be, baseball players. One of them was received yesterday on a postal card. The address was as follows: "Beautiful Earl Ripley, Police Headquarters, Head-quarters, City." The reverso side was as follows: . "City. C-S-06. AVell! L. N. Randolph. Salt Lake, P. O. Carrier 32." The bluecoats held a consultation and decided that if the mail carriers of this town wanted to play ball with them, they (the mail carriers) would have to get out and make a "rep" for themselves. |
