R. f OUNTAIN PRESENTED TO CITY The drinking fountain designed by the Spirit of Liberty chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, was presented to the city with brief and appropriate ceremonies Saturday afternoon. Attending and participating In the exercises ex-ercises was Mrs. Elijah. Sells, one of the three surviving daughters of men who fought In the Continental army under Washington. Mrs. Sells' father was Conrad Con-rad Wetmore, who at the age of 18 enlisted en-listed under Washington and served three years. His discharge papers, signed by President Washington, are the most cherished possessions of the Sells family.' fam-ily.' Mrs. Sells was one of the organisers of the local chapter of D. A. R. The speech of presentation was made by Mrs. Lee Charles Miller, and the acceptance ac-ceptance by Mayor Richard P. Morris. Others who participated in the exercises were Mrs. Mary M. F. Allen, State regent re-gent of the organization, who presided and read a historical sketch of the organization: or-ganization: the Rev. Elmer I. Goshen, who delivered the invocation; Mrs. L E. Hall, chapter regent, and the Rev. R. G. McNlece, who pronounced the benediction. benedic-tion. Music was furnished by the Twenty-ninth infantry band. |
