Saturday was a shock to older residents of 7 this community who knew him as a leading figure figure fig fig- ure in newspaper political and social life here 5 and until sixteen years ago as a business man engaged in supplying pipe and waterworks supplies supplies supplies sup- sup plies for the public works of intermountain cities cities' S. S t. t Upon retirement from business here he m moved ve ved l S to Glendale Cal in 1922 and had since mad made it his home S Mr Dunbar w was s a son of pioneer parents William Cameron and Harriet Hales Dunbar S. S S After his graduation by the University of Deseret he e entered newspaper work on the old oldS S Sat Salt Lake Herald which his father had founded and after whose death the son managed After five years years spent on the old Omaha Herald Herald Herald-he he returned to this city and filled several federal territorial and offices becoming county prominently identified with the Democratic party as county and state chairman He served the church as a missionary to the southern states England and Scotland He had a leading part partin in amateur dramatics and light opera in their S. S heyday here and was a social favorite James T. T Dunbar of Holladay long circulation manager of the Deseret News a brother is the only surviving surviving surviving sur sur- close dose relative living in Utah Others are in Boston Washington Glendale Los Angeles and Boise Mr Dunbar had been seriously ill during the past two years He was 80 years of age at atthe atthe atthe the time of his death Burial will take place in Glendale |
