Show MAYOR R. A. MURANO ENDORSES FOOD FIGHTS FOR FREEDOM MONTH This is America's third year of the war. There can be no question in anyone's mind that lood has played an important part in our success in this war. Our soldiers have properly balanced diets. They are fed the basic seven foods, or their equivalent equiv-alent in special rations. We know that the health and nourishment is being maintained at all costs. But, how about our civilian workers? Are they fully aware of the part food plays in their daily lives? Do they realize that the success of their war work, of the production of war materials mater-ials depends upon the foods they eat? During this Food Fights for Freedom month see to it that your families receive better breakfasts and better lunches, especially war workers. The safety of the nation depends upon the health of our soldiers and war workers. Study the Basic Seven charts. Hang one in your kitchen. No woman wants to starve her family yet many families fa-milies are suffering from malnutrition. mal-nutrition. Learn to adjust your meals to the wartime food situation. situ-ation. Wherefore, in order to call attention at-tention to the dangers threatening threaten-ing any nation which neglects the health of its citizens, I, R. A. Murano, mayor of Bingham Canyon, request citizens and all organizations to observe in an appropriate manner the month of September as FOOD FIGHTS SDR , FREEDOM, ipwUh.. and , to call attention to the need of cooperation co-operation with the nation's program pro-gram to make our food work for us. School children will be given nutritional study, special menus will be served in restaurants, and pamphlets on national wartime nutrition will be distributed on request by the U. S. department of agriculture, war food administration, admin-istration, nutrition and food conservation con-servation branch, Washington, D. C. |
