Show BRUSH FIRE NOW UNDERCONTROL An Oquirrh range brush fire which began August 23 and was reported "well under control" by Saturday night burned 25,000 acres, resulting in damage to state, county and private property prop-erty and for a time endangered Bingham's watersheds in Dry Fork canyon. The area burned included Bingham, Barney's, Dry Fork and Harker canyons. Bingham volunteer firemen, Salt Lake county firemen, U. S. grazing service crews, workers representing Bingham and Garfield Gar-field railroad, Utah Copper company com-pany and Utah Power and Light company battled the blaze. Fire fighting officials blamed sparks from ore cars of Bingham and Garfield railroad company as origin of the fire. Less than a month ago a similar but smaller small-er fire in the foothills below and to the north of Copperton-, which" burned 3,000 acres of brush, was thought to have been caused by the same source. |
