Home Homo Friends business associates and relatives rel reI Tuesday mourned the death of Edward Hunter Snow 67 87 chairman of ot the state tax commission who died late Monday at the family residence residence resi resl dence North West Temple street following a heart attack Mr l Snow had l long ng been a figure in public life Ufe and was a resident of St. St George until his appointment to the state tax commission in 1925 when he moved to Salt Lake He was born in m St St. George June 22 23 1865 a son of Mr and nd Mrs Erastus Snow prominent Utah pioneers His father who arrived in Salt SaIt Lake valley val ley Icy w with th Orson Pratt July 21 1847 three days before the arrival of ot Brigham Brig Brig- ham Young led the colony which founded St St. George Mr Snow attended school in St. St George and also at Brigham Young university While working his way through the latter institution he also was temporary head of the department department department depart depart- ment of bookkeeping and commercial law TEACHES SCHOOL Following graduation Mr Snow taught school in Washington county for one year and later was elected county superintendent of at schools He was a trustee of at the St St. George school district before consolidation Uon and chairman chair man of ot the county school board thereafter thereafter there there- after until he became affiliated with the state tax commission Mr Snow also was affiliated with the old Deseret Telegraph company as an operator and served as clerk of his L. L D D. D S. S stake at the same time Alwa Always s 's active in Mr Snow served two missions tor for the thela L. L D. D S S. S church He formerly was president of the eastern states mission mission mission mis mis- sion and also was president of the St. St George stake occupying the latter latter lotter lat lot ter position from 1901 until 1925 Mr Snow served ter as a member of the committee on appropriations of the state constitutional convention in 1895 and presented a minority report seeking to give each county one mem- mem ber in the lower house of the state legislature ORGANIZES BANK DANK BANKHe He Ha also was organizer and first and only president of the B Bank hk of of St St. George He organized the Southern Utah Telephone company and several other enterprises including two reclamation recta matlon mation companies the Santa Clara Bench and the S St. St George Valley He is survived by his widow Mrs Hannah Nelson Snow whom he married married mar mar- marred ried red in 1885 six children Vernon Snow and Rulon Snow of Pinto Dilworth Dilworth Dil Dil- worth Snow and Mrs Laura Woodbury Woodbury Woodbury Wood- Wood bury of S St St. George Irma Irina Snow and Mrs Olive Reeve of Salt Lake and the following brothers and sisters Frank R.
