| Show liONS MEETING A J P A Utah Urged to Go After 1930 National Convention PAYSON June 4 Special Special Special- With about delegates from Utah and and Idaho clubs In attendance the district convention of Lions clubs I opened opened- here this morning The principal feature of the opening session was the address of Jullen Julien C. C Hyer Ilger of Fort Worth Tex member member member mem mem- ber of the international board of Lions who urged Utah to go out after the 1930 national convention I The state he said is well located for a national gathering and thousands of our members would be especially glad to come here be be- be cause of ot the scenic attractions Mr Hyer urged members of the individual clubs to take a a. greater interest in international affairs of the organization and to constantly k keep e at work on some d definite im provement program SHELLEY TALKS Another speaker this morning was as District Governor Harvey Harey Selley of Salt Lake who reviewed the growth growths and accomplishments of the district during the past year The convention was called to order by President T. T F. F of the Payson club chub and an official welcome was vas extended by Mayor L. L D. D Stewart a member of the Payson Lions club chub Leo Hansen Iansen of the Lehl Lehi club chub responded to the welcome welcome welcome wel wel- come address Entertainment numbers were furnished furnished fur fur- by a ladles ladles' chorus from Payson who sang a welcome song of original composition the Payson Payson Pay Pay- son Lions club trio the Magna Lions band and a a. quartet from the Murray club CLUBS WIN SHIELDS The American Fork club chub was I presented a shield by District Governor Governor Gov Coy Selley for the best attendance record during the past year and the Lehi Lehl club chub was awarded the shield for the greatest number of ties Visiting ladies ladles were entertained with sightseeing trips and will be behonor e honor hanor guests at a tea this afternoon A large vacant residence has been fitted up by the Payson ladles ladies to servo serVe as a clubhouse for the visItors visitors visitors vis vis- I during the convention |
